SDEM Started as a French international contractor specializing in industrial installations and hydraulic works

Our Milestones

SDEM’s engineering background spans decades and sectors. As a subsidiary of the French company Société d’Etudes et de Montages, an international contractor specializing in industrial installations and hydraulic works worldwide, Société d’Etudes et de Montages (SDEM) Erectors Nigeria Limited was established in Nigeria in 1981.

After GEC Alstom purchased Société d’Etudes et de Montages in France in 1994 and the company changed its name to GEC ALSTOM SDEM, the Company was now a subsidiary of the GEC Alstom Group.

In order to emphasize its hydraulics business, GEC ALSTOM sold off its stake in the business in 1996, which allowed SDEM Erectors Nigeria Limited to be spun off as a separate entity.
